In an atmosphere of endless conversations, the fourteenth conference of our industry ended on Wednesday, October 11th. Even though for most participants the location of the conference meant traveling for many hours, the turnout was as high as during Sunday's elections in Poland. We booked the entire Głęboczek hotel exclusively for our group, but we still had to use a nearby hotel to accommodate everyone. We had 120 registered participants and, as our reception noted, 15 additional participants registered at the last minute, making us a total of 135 people.
The first two lectures are an illustrative look at our industry from both the Polish (presentation by dr Kinga Krzesiwo) and international perspective. Laurent Vanat - guru in the field of winter reports, showed us how much room for development our centers in Poland have. Apparently we have a lot of development potential when it comes to skiers
from our western border - Germany. During his presentation, he also emphasized the need and importance of transmitting statistics. As an organization, we hope and anticipate that from now on we will have full cooperation in collecting data from affiliated centers.
With the help of Attorneys Kulig-Juźwiak and Długopolski, we had the opportunity to put together an issue that increasingly concerns our industry, namely snow/trail law. The long history of work on this topic has been collected and presented chronologically. The most convenient approaches to the problem are also presented. We have set out a work plan to move from talks to action. Ad hoc, informally for now, a working group was established during the conference to pilot the issue of property rights in tourist areas.
We will outline the framework of the working group at the next PSNiT management board meeting, which is scheduled for no later than November this year. We are also planning a meeting with the Association of Mountain Communes (SGG) so that we can deal with it together, especially since local governments may prove to be key in terms of practical solutions. We would like to thank the representative of the SGG, the mayor of Kościelisko, Roman Krupa, for his presence.
Another topic that our organization will be closely watching is the issue of changes in the definition of a building, which will affect the taxes we pay in ski resorts on technical equipment. After the breakthrough in the case law regarding real estate taxes in our industry, which was mentioned by Mr. Piotr Adamiak from SMW Tax Advisory, there is a great chance to systematize the issues of taxes on technical equipment for the ski industry.
At the end of an intense day of meetings, we were able to listen to President Michał Baranowski from Elocity about electromobility - a path that will undoubtedly come to our ski resorts in a very short time. Here, PSNiT is considering the possibility of purchasing chargers for the entire group of affiliated centers. This way, we will be able to communicate to our clients - skiers and snowboarders - that we invest in green energy sources and are proactive in ecological issues. Our customer is changing and we cannot ignore it. It will certainly be beneficial both image-wise and economically. We are at the stage of checking with lawyers what steps PSNiT must take to be able to apply for subsidies for this purpose. As soon as we know how to implement the plan, a message will be sent to our members.
The conference is also a presentation of the host member where we are visiting. This time it was Kurza Góra, from the PENGUIN group. We had the opportunity to see how the station is developing, both in terms of skiing and tourism: an impressive observation tower, more ski slopes, an impressively long belt, a snow factory. Kurza Góra and the entire PINGWIN group were honored by Technoalpin and received a golden snow gun for their long cooperation. We ended the tour in the restaurant, where there was endless conversation and family atmosphere.
On the last day of the conference, we had two more important presentations. Łukasz Kabut presented a reality of reducing electricity costs. At the end, MASPEX, a company that has been supporting the activities of PSNiT for years, presented the possibilities of cooperation with members of our organization.
After lunch, some of the participants decided to kayak down the Drwęca River. The weather was wonderful and the adventures were unforgettable. We had to carry the kayaks through a fallen tree along the river. Of course, we succeeded, because after all, who can do it if not our industry!
